Dear Dwight Families,

Summer is winding down and the start of another school year is upon us.  On behalf of the Dwight PTA, we warmly welcome you to Dwight Elementary School!

Our all school student visit will be held Wednesday, September 1^st from 11:15 am – 12:00 pm.  Afterwards, all families are invited to a Dwight Family Picnic on the field above the playground.  This is a “BYOE” (Bring Your Own Everything!) event and will be the first chance for all families to come together as a community this year.  So, pack your lunch, bring a blanket, and come have some “unstructured” fun!!!

After putting your children on the bus on Thursday, September 2nd, please join the PTA, and all parents at Dwight, for the annual First Day Coffee at 9:00 am in the APR (please bring your own re-usable mug as we are an environmentally conscious community).  This is such a special morning, and a great way to meet new people, reconnect with old friends, and get excited for the start of a brand-new school year! 

Also, please mark your calendars for Open House/Volunteer Night on Wednesday, September 15th at 6:30 p.m. in the APR.   Not only will you have a chance to visit your child’s classroom and meet his/her teacher, but you will also have a chance to learn about the various and vast volunteer opportunities for parents at Dwight this coming school year - from the committee chairs themselves!  You can even “preview” the PTA volunteer job descriptions by visiting our website, dwightpta.org.

The Dwight PTA Executive Board will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, September 8th at 9:30 a.m.   All are invited and encouraged to attend, as attendance at Board Meetings is an excellent way to find out about what’s going on at Dwight, as well as learning about the vital issues being discussed district-wide in the town of Fairfield.  

Finally, The Dwight Fair, a time honored Fairfield tradition, is set for September 24^th (5:30 - 9:30 p.m.) and September 25th (11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.).  Get ready for a good time!
